01Why we built this company

An age has arrived in which AI generates and amplifies vast volumes of information. Within this flood of information — where signal and noise are inseparably mixed — discerning what is true and what is right has become harder than ever, for internal auditors and executives alike. Polarys & Company exists to provide a system of guidance for this era.

Internal audit is the function that underpins an organization’s governance and risk management. But as AI transforms the work itself, audit must change too. Rather than keeping AI at arm’s length, we bring it in as an ally, building a state in which internal auditors and executives can make decisions with confidence.

At the same time, raising the standard of internal audit across Japan to a world-class level is one of the reasons this company exists. Rather than keeping our knowledge to ourselves, we share it openly, growing one of Japan’s largest internal audit communities. That is why Polarys & Company goes beyond consulting, running education, a journal, and publishing as businesses in their own right.

03Where the name comes from

Polarys takes its name from Polaris, the North Star. In an age when AI generates information without limit and it grows harder to tell what is true, we want to be the star people can steer by — delivering information that is sound and pointing to the direction worth taking. A single letter, changed, carries that intent.

"& Company" means "not me alone." No single person can change an industry. With client organizations, with internal auditors, with everyone who shares the ambition — together we intend to raise the whole profession.
